Dragon Ball Super's Animation Quality Seems To Be In Limbo At The Moment (That's Toei Animation For 'Ya!)

King Kai's place must not be far from the fiery bottom....
Because Dragon Ball Super has some Hell-ish animation right here!

When you hear the phrase "Dragon Ball" or it's popular Z variant, or maybe even the "DBZ" abbreviation that the thriving anime programming block Toonami has seemed to popularize for the franchise over here in the United States you are sure to tag the words "quality" and "animation" behind it. Such is not the case for Dragon Ball Super's latest episode out in Japan, which made a minor attempt at recreating the famed Battle of Gods sparring match with Goku and Beerus only to leave a painful scar in the viewer's memory the very next day (like I remember it).

Normally, it is household name-types of common for numerous animation dips such as these to occur during the animation process. There's even a keyword for these situations that has stuck to the anime fandom as an unfortunately true running gag. Nonetheless, small details as strong as the above animation frame do not bode well for Super's future and Toei Animation. Some similar occurrences happened with Sailor Moon Crystal as well (prompting the popular animation studio to touch up on past mistakes for the show's Blu ray release), and they take quite a toll on the general public's opinion.

This also wouldn't be an issue at all if it weren't so noticeable and constant. Another image still from the latest episode via Know Your Meme's image galleries:

Yes, it's Dragon Ball. It'll always be alive in some form or another, arguably. But Toei sure does have it's moments now more than ever, more so than the other animation studios out there around Japan. Hopefully these animated shortcomings persuade Toei Animation to consider Super as much of a priority as One Piece and it's passable quality. I'm sure many fans wouldn't want this series to end up becoming shorter than GT (which sounds highly unlikely anyways, but nothing is concrete at a point as early as this).
